| 4.10.1989 | Srinagar | KLF militant shot dead N.K. Ganjoo, ex-Sessions Judge in a busy street at Srinagar. N.K. Ganjoo had presided over the trial of Mohd. Maqbool Butt, JKLF leader in 1967-68 and passed death sentence against him for killing a police official. The killers had left a note on the body of the deceased warning people against picking up the dead body. |
| 29.4.1990 | Anantnag, Srinagar | Moti Lal Pandit, was abducted from his residence at Tankipora on April 26. Later, his dismembered dead body was found in a jungle near Kupwara. |
| 1.5.1990 | Anantnag | Sarwanand 'Premi', a retired Headmaster and famous poet and his son, Virender Kaul (working in telephone department) were abducted from their house by a group of militants who also took away their gold jewellery and valuables. Their dead bodies were found 20 kms away from their village. Both the dead bodies bore brutal torture marks like broken fingers, gouged out eyes, and deep holes on neck and forehead. |
| 2.5.1990 | Kupwara | Chuni Lal Shala, Inspector J&K Police (CID), travelling in a bus from Kupwara to Sopore, was made to get down from the bus and lynched. His joints were broken with rifle butts by militants before he was shot dead. The gory incident took place in front of a large audience. A fundamentalist militant outfit 'Allah tigers' owned the responsibility for the killing. |
| 4.5.1990 | Baramulla | Two Kashmiri Pandits, Satinder Kumar and Swaroop Nath were abducted from their home. Their dead bodies with multiple injuries including burn injuries were recovered on the roadside. They had earlier received threats to leave Kashmir Valley. |
| 10-11.5.1990 | Srinagar | 3 Hindu youth, Surinder Kumar, Rattan Lal and Omkar Nath were kidnapped from different parts of Srinagar city. Their dead bodies were later recovered from Alijan Road, Soura. Their dead bodies carried the gory sign of brutal torture at the hands of militants. JKLF claimed responsibility for the killings. |
| 16.5.1990 | Kulgam, Anantnag | Bhushan Lal Kaul, Assistant Engineer in PWD had gone to Kulgam to resume his duties. He was kidnapped by militants from Kulgam. Later his dead body was recovered by roadside. His eyes had been gouged out. |
| 23-24.5.1990 | Rajghat, Baramulla | Bansi Lal Zutshi was tortured by a group of militants in his own house where he was living alone. He was later hacked to pieces and packed in a gunny bag. |
| 23.5.1990 | Badgam | The dead body of Makhan Lal Raina, a Medical Assistant in local Govt. Hospital was recovered at Khandwa. His dead body bore multiple injuries including dismembered right leg as well as strangulation mark. |
| 26.5.1990 | Shopian Pulwama | Brij Nath Kaul, his wife Ratna and sister Sunita were abducted from their house. The women were stripped naked and molested in front of large number of people. Later they were taken to an isolated place and gang raped, while Brij Nath Kaul was clubbed to death. The Kaul women were dragged with a jeep which was driven with high speed on mountainous road causing their death. The dead bodies were totally mutilated. |
| 17.6.1990 | Srinagar | A group of militants forced their entry into the house of J.L. Ganjoo and opened fire indiscriminately killing 4 family members including 2 women and injuring 4 others. The family had returned to their home a day before from Jammu, where they had taken refuge for a few months. |
| 11.8.1990 | Khrew, Pulwama | O.N. Chowdhry, Manager, local Cement factory was kidnapped by militants from the factory premises. His dead body was later recovered on Aug. 11, 1990 with tell tale marks of brutal torture including crushed bones of lower limbs, burn injuries on chest and back and nails of fingers pulled out. |
| 14.10.1990 | Srinagar | A group of armed militants forced their way into the house of Shyam Lal Kaul and shot dead 4 family members, Dr. Shibanji, Mrs. Usha Kaul, Rajinder Kaul and Mrs. Rajinder Kaul. Mrs. Rajinder Kaul was in an advanced stage of pregnancy. The brutal killing of the family caused immediate reaction in the area and Muslims living in the neighbourhood exchanged hot words with the assailants. Later in the same area two more Hindus, Chuni Lai and Kapoor Chand were killed by the same group. Al Umar Mujahideen was responsible for the killing. |
| 24.6.1991 | Nishat, Srinagar | Militants abducted three probationary officers of Life Insurance Corporation from Nishatbagh area. They were later burnt alive in the house (belonging to a migrant Hindu) in which they were tortured and confined, which was set ablaze. |
| 9.10.1991 | Qazigund, Anantnag | 2 Hindus, Mohan Lal and Ramesh Kumar were kidnapped from their village. Later their dead bodies carrying marks of severe torture were found on roadside. |
