Date:- 15 Jan 2024

The Army fired a few shots along the border in Akhnoor sector amid fears of suspicious movement as visibility was low due to dense fog.

An Army spokesperson said the firing on forward posts following the suspicious movement amid fog and poor visibility was a normal activity.

“It has come to light that the news of ceasefire violation on the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector has been circulating on various media platforms. I would like to clarify that no ceasefire violation has occurred. It is an exchange of fire that happened due to the fear of suspicious movement as visibility was quite low. This is a routine activity amid fog,” the spokesperson said.

The security forces have been on a high alert in forward areas of Jammu and Kashmir after the recent spurt in attacks on troops.
