Amid terror threat, Jammu police enhance security ahead of Republic Day

Ahead of Republic Day on January 26, the police in Jammu division has enhanced security arrangements in wake of attempts by terror organisations to revive terrorism in the region.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, Anand Jain held a meeting with the officials of intelligence agencies, Army, BSF, CRPF and Civil Administration to discuss the security arrangements for the Republic Day function.

During the review, the ADGP emphasised the importance of collaboration among various law enforcement agencies, intelligence units, and other stakeholders to create a robust security framework. Special attention will be given to crowd management, traffic control, and the deployment of advanced surveillance technologies to enhance situational awareness.

The ADGP stressed upon all the officers that proper briefing be given to the officials deployed for Republic Day duties. He stressed upon all the participants for effective and coordinated efforts at grass-root level for smooth conduct of the national event. He further advised that adequate security arrangements be made in and around the venue of Republic Day function, which is to be organised at MA Stadium.

The ADGP further directed all intelligence agencies to activate resources available with them to generate intelligence having bearing on Republic Day in advance so that anti-national and anti-social elements could not succeed in their nefarious designs.

He said that a proper co-ordination be maintained among all intelligence agencies, Army, PMF, Traffic and Security wing in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

The ADGP emphasised upon SSP Jammu and SSP Traffic to identify adequate parking slots in advance so that vehicles are parked in an orderly manner. Traffic arrangements be made in such a manner so that general public may not feel any inconvenience while reaching the venue of function, said the ADGP.
