Kupwara man arrested for terror financing

The ED has arrested Mohammad Abdullah Shah, a resident of Kupwara.

He, along with others involved in terror financing and is said to have been hand in glove with Pakistani handler Manzoor Ahmad Shah, who arranged admissions in MBBS and other courses in the colleges of Pakistan for students from J&K.

Shah has been remanded to ED custody till February 13 by a Srinagar court. The ED initiated investigation on the basis of an FIR against Mohammad Akbar Bhat, Fatima Shah, Altaf Ahmad Bhat, Qazi Yasir, Syed Khalid Geelani, alias Khalid Andrabi, and others.

The accused had received money in their personal accounts and in the bank accounts of Al-Jabar Trust, a charitable trust, but was being used for the purpose of receiving funds from students.

The funds were further being ploughed into terror activities in India in multiple ways like giving money to stone-pelters, providing money to terrorists based in J&K, as per the instructions of Pakistani handlers.

The accused, Mohammad Abdullah Shah, also received money from Sabzzar Ahmad Shaikh and others, who had received money from students who got admission in Pakistan’s medical college as per the instruction of his ex-filtrated brother Manzoor Ahmad Shah.
