Police impose trekking curbs in Tangmarg forest areas

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday issued an advisory imposing strict restrictions on trekking in the upper forest areas of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The advisory was issued following an unauthorised trekking incident reported in the Danwas forest area on December 21. The police said that to ensure public safety, local residents must obtain the requisite permissions from local authorities and inform the police before entering upper forest areas. For non-local tourists, police said entry and trekking in the upper forest reaches are “strictly prohibited.”.
