Indian Embassy contacted Trump aides on truce day US lobby firm
The Indian Embassy in Washington contacted three senior officials in the Trump administration on May 10, the day a ceasefire understanding emerged in the India-Pakistan conflict known as Operation Sindoor, according to disclosures by a US lobbying firm under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

It is pertinent to mention here that the FARA disclosures, however, do not indicate any request by the Indian side for formal mediation or intervention in the conflict.
Publicly available filings show that calls and outreach were made to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Ricky Gill at the National Security Council to discuss “media coverage” of the conflict, underscoring New Delhi’s engagement with senior US policymakers as the situation de-escalated.
The disclosures were made by SHW Partners LLC, a Washington-based lobbying firm led by former Trump adviser Jason Miller, which was engaged by the Indian Embassy in late April-2025 to assist with India’s outreach on trade talks and broader policy engagements during the period spanning the April 22 terror attack and the subsequent launch of Operation Sindoor.
According to the calendar of activities filed under the FARA, the Embassy’s outreach on May 10 was part of a broader set of engagements that included contacts with other senior officials in the White House, the National Security Council and the US trade establishment. The filings indicate that the purpose of these calls and emails was to shape US media narratives and ensure accurate coverage of Operation Sindoor as the ceasefire was taking shape.
The ceasefire was publicly announced on May 10 by US President Donald Trump and was widely reported as having been brokered with American involvement.
The Indian authorities, however, have consistently maintained that the understanding was reached directly between the military authorities of India and Pakistan, and not through any third-party mediation.
SHW Partners’ filings cover activities between late April and December 2025, during which the firm arranged calls, meetings and briefing material for Indian officials with multiple US government agencies, including the State Department and the National Security Council, in connection with trade negotiations as well as media coordination during and after the operational phase of Operation Sindoor.
The disclosures have since drawn political attention in India, with Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh pointing to the sequence of announcements that day -- including the first public statement on the halt of Operation Sindoor by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 5.37 pm -- and calling for greater clarity on the circumstances surrounding the ceasefire.
“Much obviously happened on May 10, 2025, leading to the first announcement of the halt of Operation Sindoor by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 17.37 hours,” Ramesh posted on X.
