Army Chief calls for advaned tech in anti terror operations
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Sunday reviewed the operational preparedness of troops and stressed the infusion of advanced technologies to enhance operational capability.
General Dwivedi visited forward areas in the Jammu division, where he interacted with soldiers and officers of the Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) under the aegis of the White Knight Corps.
An Army spokesperson said, “General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Counter Insurgency Force (R), under the aegis of White Knight Corps, to review the prevailing security situation and assess operational preparedness.”
He was briefed on ongoing counter-terrorism operations, the effectiveness of the security grid and measures undertaken to maintain sustained vigilance.
“Deliberations also focused on inter-agency synergy and the infusion of advanced technologies to further enhance operational capability. COAS commended all ranks for their unwavering dedication, professionalism and steadfast commitment to duty. He lauded their sustained efforts in maintaining a high state of readiness under challenging operational conditions. The interaction reaffirmed the Indian Army’s resolute focus on vigilance, preparedness and operational excellence,” the spokesperson added.
On Saturday, General Dwivedi visited forward areas in the Poonch sector, where he assessed deployment posture, surveillance measures and security arrangements. He reviewed the overall readiness of formations deployed in the sector.
On the first day of his visit to Jammu on Friday, the Army Chief visited the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, where he assessed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness in the region.
He was briefed on the counter-terrorism grid and appreciated the synergy in joint operations between the security forces.
The Army Chief also participated in the high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday.
Meanwhile, a Pakistani intruder was apprehended while attempting to sneak into the Indian side from across the International Border (IB) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.
The Border Security Force (BSF) detected the intruder's movement near Border Outpost Ballar in the Ramgarh sector at around 7 pm and took him into custody, they said.
The intruder was immediately taken for questioning and further details are awaited, officials added.
