In A Trance, Journeying Beyond The Mind

In A Trance, Journeying Beyond The Mind

The term 'clairvoyance’ basically means perception that is extrasensory The perception can be on an object, person, location or physical event. Only a few gifted persons have this ability and they often come to rescue those who are in distress. Human knowledge may not be always adequate to solve all problems and hence, people turn to those who have the power to "predict" the outcome or unfold the mechanism through which a certain result can be obtained. Through deep contemplation one is able to connect with higher realties which shape the world and life. As the mind converges with higher consciousness, as it transcends to a higher plane, there emerges clarity. Those with this potential come from every religious sect, so it is not as though it is specific to any religion or sect. At times eye witnesses narrate that just before clairvoyance begins there is a struggle: the person who experiences clairvoyance seems to be undergoing pain; it is as if some invisible entity is trying to enter his body, mind and his entire existence. Ramakrishna in a certain context, in order to describe spiritual transcendentalism, said that it is as if an elephant is trying to enter a tiny hut. Out of kindness the higher reality is not able to remain indifferent to human suffering and, thus, tries to reach us. At the same time it is not so simple or easy to accommodate that higher reality within this finite space and capacity. So the struggle is understandable. Of course spiritual trance can also take place without possibility of answering any specific question. This state was often experienced by Ramakrishna. Many Sufis too enjoy this state of bliss. When Ramakrishna was suffering from cancer, a knowledgeable person suggested to him to focus his attention, when in trance, on his injury so that hemay be cured. Dissatisfiedly he had replied to him that in trance a person goes much beyond one's suffering, one's existence. Where is the mind left to be brought down to focus on the spot that causes agony? Poet Wordsworth is said to have experienced spiritual trance, particularly during his encounters with daffodils. Two remarkable lines appear in the poem: 'I gazed-and gazed-but little thought' and later, "They flash upon the inward eye'. The poet seems to have been completely engrossed in beauty and subsequently beauty seems to have captured his mind in totality. A similar expression appears in a poem in Tagore's Piaanjali: the poet would like to 'die into the deathless' as he looks for the perfect pearl of the formless in the ocean of forms. In some classical forms of dance dancer performs certain movements which arise from the ground and ultitely end with a posture and mudra, representing bliss. It suggests that inexistence has the capacity to travel beyond what is considered to be order. But that super-state of unusualnecan be attained only from the ocean mundane stuff. This conveys the integrity that lies among all aspects the creation: the all-inclusiveness. No god or goddess can take away human sufferings and woes. But spirtrance can be attained to overcome suffering. It is not an escape chute, but an art that helps to discover life beyond pleasure and pain, beyond stereotypes. That art can be practising a scientific way. Every step can be rationalised but the ultimate state cnever be expressed in words
