Just Slow Down, Don't Move So Fast
When the prophet Simeon lifted up the Christ child in his arms in the temple, he prayed: "Let your servant go in peace, for now I have seen the promises of the Lord." What were those promises? And with what promises of God do we live today? The greatest promise that we can experience is that we live in the dawn of a new age. An age when if we live our lives according to God's will in humble submission, even unto death, that the doors of God's kingdom have been opened wide after Jesus died and rose from the dead. None of the promises of God will ever be broken. They are an open invitation to walk with him on life's journey. To each the invitation is unique because he has made us unique creations of his. We were born on this earth not to do just what we like. The responsibilities we bear are a reminder from God that life has and will always have its pain and struggles. God's promises are made to those who persevere. Walking in faith does not mean that we will have foreknowledge about what will happen to us and when. But, we can go on with hope because we have a promise from God that he will not allow anything to go waste in our lives. He will transform all of it in the twinkling of an eye, in his own perfect time. For impatient people like me, always anxious to see results, achieve goals and move forward, God sometimes says: slow down, don't move so fast. God knows when and how to give us his grace and in the measure we need it. These promises are not made only to a few privileged people, but to all those who acknowledge him and believe in him. There is one promise of Jesus that means a lot to weary travellers. He said: "Come to me, you who are heavily burdened and I will give you rest, for my yoke is not heavy." Life Isa challenge, but when we are overloaded by it, there comes a time, when we aremore prepared to let go and give up many of the things that have held us together and embark on a new journey. When we seem to be strong and able to shoulder the burdens of life, some people unnecessarily develop guilt feelings if they are not able to. On the contrary, Jesus held out an important promise to them. That when we are able to understand the 'nothingness ‘of our lives and turn to him, he will give us water from fresh fountains that spring from his remake our burdens light to bear. The longing that Simeon felt throughout his life was that he wee the 'Messiah'. Once that prorwas fulfilled, he knew that he waat peace and ready to part from the We all would like a peaceful deatThis can only come if we make Gpromises are own. In a way God prepares us for that great expertise is our mission in life. Rewrite on stone, but we can touchline’s of people with hearts over with goodness and kindness and that is really to be a 'messenger ‘And themes sage can be in the still voice of the breeze, and not I thunderstorm or the lightning.
