The harmony between the gross body and energy components inside us gives rise to life. We eclare an entity to be dead when this armony is lost. We consume energy in various ctivities, which are predominantly of ree types-words, thoughts and eeds. However, we never try to eplenish this energy to the same level. through the food we eat and physical Kercises and meditations, we try to efill the energy level to some extent. ut, the process is never 100% efficient. saresult, our body deteriorates and e experience ageing, sickness and finally, death. Gautama Buddha was interested to find out the truth behind the process of birth, ageing, sickness and death. Through enlightenment, he realised that human life is not a random phenomenon, but is dictated by the principle of cause and effect. The life we are experiencing at present is the effect of the causes created previously. Buddhism believes in eternity of life; he goes one step further in proclaiming that the present situation of our life is not only due to the causes created in this life but also due to the causes created in all our previous lives. It implies that the energy which decides our momentary life conditions, is predominantly inherited by us. While we have little control over the functioning of this energy,we have capability to nullify its negative effects to some extent through awareness and sincere efforts. In the Bhagwad Gita, Krishnatalks about our role in either creating or destroying this energy and evolving our life conditions (6:05). He says that our actions and behaviours determine whether we are our own friend or enemy. We always blame others for our misfortune and sufferings. This ignorance is the root cause of our sufferings as it throws the responsibility of all problems to the environmentand creates a sense of helplessness. Appreciation of the truth that we are responsible for our life conditions will provide the necessary wisdom and courage to face the situation boldly and fearlessly, and promptappropriate actions to change the situation. This is the fundamental principle of life which Buddha and Krishna proclaimed with a view to make people aware of their inherent potential of godhood and transcend sufferings. Struggle is considered an intrinsipart of human life. In reality, our life Very simple by nature. Our mind enjocreating complexities and satisfies egby solving them. Life has become an etrip. All ego prompted activities are necessarily associated with selfish motives and these activities drain ou lot of ourenergy because of mental agitations. In Karma Sanyaas chapter of Bhagwad Gita, Krishna advocates selfless dedicated activities without a desire forthe fruits of actions, if one wants to lead a peaceful life. This can depicted as a life which is properly aligned with the law of the universe. Buddhism talks about 3,000 possible realmsexperiences in a single moment of lifeThis makes human life a complex phermenon, which is difficult to comprehend predict. However, our efforts shoube to remain alert all the time about these internal happenings, and act judiciously to remain happy.
