The Green Shoots Of New Life & Hoре

The Green Shoots Of New Life & Hoре

Looking outside my window, i can see green shoots-trees, bushes and the grass putting outnew en shoots-symbolic of new life. natter the tragedies that play out und the world, whether terrorist cks, disease outbreaks or any kind njustice, life begins anew. Every e we grind to a halt after a savage w, we learn to pick up the threads in and move on. That is the irony of life. Out of the es of death, springs forth new shoots a new life. The human heart is made peace and beauty-but it is human ds that kill and destroy. It is human ngs who erect barriers, who do all y can to destroy humanity and age in ferocious warfare, that knows limits. It is in this kind of world that e children and babies become ims of war and refugees flee from teems that do not respect human ts and get caught in cross currents that hinder their flight. Sitting on the periphery of all this, alone with nature, drinking in some of its peace and quiet, how do i reconcile the two-a life of quiet and harmony and a world shattered by pain and inhumanity? Many build a life of comfort and ease and are content that 'they are safe'. These safe havens, if they exist, are rare. We cannot dismiss the horrific things that happen to others and remain untouched by them. And so it is not just the Paris attacks, violence in Syria, crackdown on students in India or even the arson incidents related to caste reservation in Haryana, but every place that experiences violence in which the innocent suffer the most, and death and destruction wipe out hope. Reading war-related stories like those in Anne Frank's Diary and Corrie Ten Boom's 'The Hidden House' in which goodness continues to exist in hidden attics and concentration camps, we are today seized by different kinds of images, that is, strikes by armed free floaters who hit and run. Random killing and people going berserk spraying others with bullets-it happens all the time. We cannot remain indifferent. To be involved, is to feel great the speaking tree compassion for the victims, to reach out to them and to be on our guard againstthe networks that support all this violence and crime. The justification that perpetrators seek in religion, for instance, is misguided. When groups of people belong to a small shut off system and see anyone who challenges their views as enemies, such a system is based on the elimination of others. When certain places are targeted, perpetrators of violence do not count the human cost. Yet, there are hope givers. They heal wounds, help those who have suffered, sometimes go to conflict zones and reach out, irrespective of risks to themselves. There can be no empty boast that we are not affected at all and so can continue to lead peaceful lives without any interference. That is because we belong to one human familwhich means that all human beings have theright to safety and protection against unjust systems. So as i continue to look at the progress of the green shoots outside my window, i see once again the signs of renewal and new life. We have begin anew. Every new dawn comes with signs of new life. Life is eternal and if our eyes are not dimmed by hopelessness, we will see before us nature renewing itself, inviting us to the selfsame renewal.
