Choose Your Role Models With Great Care
The human brain is shaped by our experiences. Whatever we see, - hear, smell, taste and touch comes a part of us. We are shaped by all ur life experiences. We can use the wledge that we are easily influenced hatever orwhoever we come in act with for our own benefit. Each moment of our lives we have ces to make. We can keep the company nose who can have a positive influence sor we can waste our time with those have a negative impact on our lives. Those of us who wish to develop itually can speed our progress by lating those who are adept in the itual arena. Others who do not feel arespiritual can become more itual by emulating spiritualbeings. As part of this endeavour,we can learn about the lives of great saints, or observe their living example, and then emulate them. Even if we do not feel we have the qualities,just by imitating those who have them, we willtrainourselves to develop those positive qualities. We will get into the habit of speaking and acting in a certain way and over time we will find we have been transformed. If we look at the life of saints, we will find that they are loving, kind, caring and selfless. Their hearts are full of compassion for those who are suffering. They bringing comfort and love to aching hearts they encounter en route. If we could model ourselves after such saints, we would find that we arenow more sensitive to the needs and suffering of others and we would seek to apply cool balm to their wounds and relieve them of their pain. If we wish to master meditation, then we can follow what saints do. They meditate long hours and work hard to perfect the practice. They do not sit for a few minutes, get up and eat something, sit for a few more minutes, and then watch television for three hours, then sit again, and then get up and engage in more distractions. They keep themselves seated until they achieve their goal. If we follow their dedication and zeal to their meditation we to0 will attaint he spiritual heights that they reached. We have free will to choose whom we want to emulate. If we spend our time with those with negative habits, who engage in pastimes that do not lead to spiritual growth, then we will become so much like those people. We will be influenced by their negative ways and itwill be harder for us to undo the bad habits we develop. If we are truly since about our spiritual progress, then let us consider howand withwhom we spendour time. Let us find positive role modelin the spiritual arena so that those virtubecome a part of us. Then, we will find that we will not have to work as hard to gain spiritual traits. These traits will come more easily and more naturally since we have had more experience beinwith those who are spiritual. We can make the best use of ourlifebgaining spiritually To do so, let us find positive role models to emulate. Thenwewill find that we will become the same as whoever it is we wish to imitate.
