Ultimate Consciousness And Materials Energy

Ultimate Consciousness And Materials Energy

Arjuna inquired of Krishna-in the Bhagwad Gita chapter 13- Labout Purusha, individual asciousness; Prakriti, materials ergy; kshetra, field of activities; kshetrajna, knower of the field activities, knowledge and the goal knowledge. In response, Krishna said: "The body he field and, according to the wise, knower of this field is kshetrajna. alisation of the presence of ultimate sciousness in all bodies is the imate knowledge and the knower of sis the true kshetrajna. The five ments, earth, water, air, fire, ether and se ego, intelligence, the 10 unmanifest ses and five objects of senses together h desire, envy, happiness, misery, y, consciousness and determination, inthe field of activity. Krishna says to Arjuna that the owing traits define knowledge that is e known: "Insensitivity, humility, non-violence, tolerance, simplicity, service to the teacher and the preceptor; external and internal cleanliness, belief in right means, self-control, insensitive to mundane activities, devoid of arrogance, being constantly aware of the sadness and blemish associated with birth, death, disease and old age, minimum attachment to family, equanimity in happiness and distress, complete devotion to the Lord, preference for holy and aesthetically pleasing places, and solitude, commit ment to spirituality and knowledge based on reason." Krishna then explains the science of true knowledge, by knowing which there is nothing more to be known. That is the Supreme Being, devoid of a beginning and eternal. It is beyond cause and effect. That ultimate Being is devoid of all materials nature, but is its maintainer; it is beyond all senses but controls them. It is within and ethout, staticas wollsdyna smaller than the smallest and larger than the largest, and is far as well as near. It is undivided, but exists in all beings in discrete nature. It is the preserver of all things, also the creator and annihilator. It is the illuminator of allthat illuminates, beyond all knowledge and is realised by self-knowledge. Krishna continues: "Both materials energy and individual consciousness are indestructible. Theformer is responsible for cause and effect. The latter is responsible for happiness and misery. Since individual consciousness is situated in the materials body, it also experiences the three modes of materials nature like sattva, rajas and tamas. Obsessions arising out of materials nature are responsible for rebirth." As distinguished from individual consciousness, there is an ultimate Consciousness in the body that acts as Witness the ultimate Being, the Paramatma or Super Soul. He who understands this never takes birthagain. Some people realise this by meditation, others by the difference matter and spirit and still others bydoingaction bereft of desire. All entities, animate and inanimresult from the interaction of thefieof activity and knower of the field. Cwho sees the ultimate Being in everything and everywhere, is the visionaOne who perceives that it is only thebody that acts, not the soul, is knowlegeable. When one sees unity in the expansion and diversity of life formsone realises the ultimate Truth. Just as the sun illuminates the world, so do ultimate Consciousnessand individual consciousness in thefield of activity inthe body. Finally, those who by this knowledge can distinguish the body, individual conciousness and ultimate Consciousnachieve the Supreme.
