Depression is a prevalent psycho- D logical disorder that affects people of all age groups, across eworld. The depressed individual feels wand sad most of the time and nothing ems to lift his mood. There are feelings hopelessness, helplessness and rthlessness, and the person has a ong belief that there will be no change nits inner state. These abilities help us overcome all deficiencies, diseases and dysfunctions so that we become perfect and immortal. Hence, one should not lose hope. Call upon the greatest force that can heal depression, which is, love. Hatred and anger are overcome with love, and when the speaking tree we learn to love deeply, depression terminates. The Buddhist Metta Sutta tells us, "Just asa mother would protect her only child at the risk of her own life, even so, let him cultivate a boundless heart towards all beings. Let thoughts of boundless love pervade the whole world; above, below and across, without any obstruction, without any hatred, without any enmity." We need to forgive our own self, other people, the whole universe and develop a deep, encompassing love. It is important to acknowledge that no one, including ourselyos is inherently bad; people behave harshly because they have beetraumatised. Pain makes people turnselfish, cold and unforgiving to protecthemselves. Rather than dwelling on their dark side, we must focus on the potential light and goodness within them. This has a threefold benefit. Firstly we feel hopeful and peaceful. Secondly,change in our attitude encourages that bringa change in themselves. Thirdas we send subtle positive vibrations anformations to others, these have adeepimpact on their consciousness. In the longrun, as we learn to love ourselves and love others deeply, they too reciprocate with similar positivity. Then our being rejoices in boundlelove. If any depressive thought orfeelicomes up, we at once realise its falsehoods turn towards the truth. As a result the depressive movement ceases.
