Oneness To Humanness Is A Favoured Value
Most would agree that human- ness is the best value in society. In any seminar or social gathering, humanness is widely adored. Despite all this appreciation, we see hat humanness is conspicuous by its absence in our societal set-up. Our relations seem to be oriented not y humanness but by considerations of caste, creed, colour, nationality or other denominations. There is religious anaticism, communalism, regionalism, casteism and even linduism. The implications of divisions are rampant hatred, ill-will, violence and worse, terrorism that has become a global problem. What is humanness? The dictionary definition says it is being human or to be humane. To be humane is to be kind, benevolent, tender and merciful. Everyone likes these values but in day-to-day life, we see people reflecting just the reverse of these values. That's how much alienated we are from each other, and we see so much hatred and selfishness all around us. What we need is more of love and empathy to build the foundation of one world familyVasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The basic reason for lack of humanness is ignorance about Self and our relation with the cosmos. The Sant Nirankari Mission has been promoting the concept of 'Oneness to solve this riddle and remove ignorance. 'Oneness' is directly linked with one source of the cosmos, God. Oneness is the state of knowing and realising 'One' as 'One', and then being one with One'. In 'Oneness' we lose our separateness and are so identified with the 'One' -that is, origin and source of the cosmos -that entire creation is envisioned as an expression or an expanse of the 'One'. All the prophets have consensus on the concept of the 'One'as Ultimate Reality. The names given to God are different but the named One is the same. All prophets perceived this 'Oneness' existing as the One Formless Cosmic Existent. As the cosmos is one organic whole, Ultimate Reality is one and common to all religions, regions, castes, creed and colours. As such, 'Oneness and 'commonness' of Ultimate Reality go together: The ultimate source is one, and creation isa manifestation of this One. The logical inference is that all living beings are also of one common origin. We are made of the same matter, and the same consciousness exists in all beings. So, humanness is the basic philosophy to be followed by all. It is a faith, at once real and natural. All human-made doctrines,religiousprinciples and social ethics that infringe the organic unity of humanare unscientific and unnatural.
